Lama Sönam will continue with his teachings about the 6 paramitas, starting with Disicpline/Ethics at the first mentioned weekend and continuing with Patience at the second. These detailed teachings about two more of the 6 Paramitas are a wonderful basis for the understanding of Buddhism and accordingly for the understanding of what is important on the Buddhist Path. Dear Friends, LAMA YESHE DRÖLMA will continue the teachings about the 37 Practises of a Bodhisattva the next weekend (Fr, 08. - Su, 10. February). The other courses about this subject have been very inspiring and each of the 37 verses transfers many precious information. It's a joy to listen and reflect. At the same time this course is about meditation and detailed instructions about how to meditate. Dear Friends! We are very sorry to inform you that the weekend course 23.-25. November with Lama Yeshe Drölma is cancelled. The next course will therefore take place at the weekend 07.-09. December. A little reminder: the subject will be the practise of meditation with the wonderful clear instructions Lama Yeshe Drölma is well known for and teachings about "The 37 practises of a Bodhisattva". This is the continuation of the 1st part we had in June, but the participation is easily possible also for those who did not attend the course in June. This subject is an inspiring instruction about how to act in normal daily life‚ for the benefit of others and thus for a more fulfilled life. He will give a course we are very much looking forward to: "Letter to a friend" from Nagarjuna This text explains in a wonderful and very understandable way the meaning of the right behaviour in the Dharma. The master Nagarjuna is giving advices to a king in order to explain the essence of Buddhism. It‚s about the meaning of ethical conduct, of generosity and of the best way to direct one's life towards the benefit of all beings. We would like to recommend this course warmly to those who want to understand the basic principles of the Dharma or to deepen their understanding. It is suitable for beginners as well as for advanced practitioners. Trehor Lama is Tibetan. He studied and practised Buddhism intensively. At the request of HH Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje and HH Shamarpa Rinpoche he is leading the Karmapa-Institut in Valderoure near Nice for several years already. Dear Friends! We would like to give you a short report about the latest actions here. On our website www.bodhipath-renchen-ulm.de/galerie You will see the progress regarding the renovation of the meditation hall and the terrace in front of it. In addition to this the dormitory on the first floor is (nearly) finished. These actions mean a great improvement for the courses and the guests and none of the actions would have been possible without the generous support of all helpers and sponsors. In the name of H.H. Shabdrung Rinpoche inspired us a lot during his teachings about Buddhist Philosophy and we are very happy that Rinpoche will come back next year to continue with the profound teachings. After these intense weeks the center will be closed during the last weekend in October. In November the program will continue as follows: Lama Sönam TRÉHOR LAMA Lama Yeshe Drölma 23.-25. November and 07.-09. December. These practises belong to the most important instructions in Vajrayana (Diamondway) Buddhism. Lama Yeshe Drölma presents the instructions step by step and her clear way helps us to understand how to integrate the teachings in our daily life. Welcome to everybody! Your Bodhi Path Team Jigme Rinpoche Teachings Cancelled (posted August 16, 2008) Dear friends! We are very sorry to inform you that the weekend with Jigme Rinpoche is cancelled! Rinpoche's health is not yet stable enough to manage easily such a journey and it is very necessary to continue making wishes to support him. For this reason we decided to having a practice weekend (24.-26. August), during which we will mainly do the practice of the White Tara. All accumulations will be dedicated to Jigme Rinpoche's health and his long life. Jigme Rinpoche is a high Bodhisattva and a very precious teacher. Whoever has met him got to know his immense benevolence and kindness. This weekend of practice will be a contribution to express deepest gratitude and above all our support. With happiness we would like to inform you about the additions to our program in autumn: Shabdrung Rinpoche agreed to give another course in 4 parts AND to give an initiation/empowerment to Buddha Shakyamuni here. We are having a wonderful summer course here with Shabdrung Rinpoche and would like to send you the latest news concerning changes in our program: 1. Right now we got the news that Jigme Rinpoche will have to go to India and will therefore not be able to come for the first of two weekends in August. This means, Rinpoche will only be able to give the course 24.-26. August. In any case we are very happy that Rinpoche's health will allow him now to teach here again after quite a break. Those of you who had already registered for the weekend August, 17.-19. may get in contact, please, just to let us know that this message was received. 2. Dear participants in the forthcoming summer course! There is an important change to announce: Right now we got to know that HH Shamar Rinpoche will not be able to be here for the summer course. Rinpoche suddenly got the news that he will have to go back to India on August, 1st, to take on his responsibility in the court case about the Rumtek issues. There is no possibility to avoid or postpone this and Rinpoche will have to carry on this very urgent responsibility afterwards. But as this summer course was near to Rinpoche's heart, he is now sending us a precious replacement‚ in the person of Shabdrung Rinpoche who will take over his program. Rinpoche himself said that Shabdrung Rinpoche would be a very good replacement and it would be very rare to find such a teacher. More about Shabdrung Rinpoche: Shamar Rinpoche recommended Shabdrung Rinpoche warmly and presents him as a special and precious, highly realized Lama, who can take over the program of Shamar Rinpoche without any problems. We are still a little overwhelmed by this surprise, but of course we are standing behind Rinpoche's decision and especially behind his important task in Rumtek. Those of you who would like to cancel their registration for the summer course because of the new circumstances can of course do so. Just send an email. We would like to ask you however to send us such a message till June, 30th latest, please. Like this others will have the chance to stand in. For those of you who would like to follow Rinpoche's recommendation, everything stays unchanged. With warmest regards, Sabine Teuber info@bodhipath-renchen-ulm.de The new Bodhi Path Centre at Renchen Ulm on the Franco-German border held its first large course over four week ends in July 2006 Künzig Shamar Rinpoche and Jigme Rinpoche gave us the great pleasure to giving teachings during 4 weekends in July! The Bodhi Path Center here in Renchen-Ulm is the main seat of Shamar Rinpoche in Europe, and Rinpoche's first teachings here were a special event. Jigme Rinpoche first visited the prospective new centre in October 2005 and decided it would be a propitious place to open a new Bodhi Path Center in Germany, and the first residents moved into the house, a lovely building, originally constructed as a hotel in the 1970's, in early 2006. Lama Jigme Rinpoche gave an introductory teaching on the subject of Buddhist meditation in Strasbourg, 30 km from the center, on the 6th of July. The official program began on the 7th July, and over the first two weekends, Shamar Rinpoche gave a complete and thorough teaching on Samanthabhadra's wishing prayers. He explained that all the great Bodhisattvas in India and Tibet have practice this prayer each morning and evening. Rinpoche stressed that following the wishes of Samanthabhadra is the greatest cause to participate in the Nirvana's of Buddha's life after life. Lama Jigme Rinpoche also gave explanation teachings and answered questions.
Shamar Rinpoche told me to look for a suitable house near Strassbourg, on the German side of the border. He was quite determined as far as the area was concerned. I was wondering why it was so important to look around in that particular area. Somehow I got the impression that Rinpoche had already seen the house before but meanwhile "forgot" the exact location of it. Without any further precise details I decided to conduct the search in my own way through local brokers. Then it happened 5 weeks later, on 28th October 2005, that I learnt about a building in Renchen-Ulm, which was previously used as a hotel and restaurant. I had a look at the house and was immediately very interested in it. On the other hand I thought it would be much too good and expensive for us. Still I phoned Shamar Rinpoche in America and just started to informed him about the details of the project, when he interrupted me and shocked me with his reply that this building was exactly the house he was "thinking" about. He instructed me , to go ahead with the purchase without any hesitation and, of course, also without his prior personal inspection or visit to Renchen-Ulm. Shamar Rinpoche subsequently quickly decided regarding the future use of the existing facilities of the house as follows: 1. There are 5 comfortable, newly decorated hotel-rooms, each with an attached bathroom. They remain unchanged for the accommodation of visiting Dharma-Guests. These rooms can be rented also for longer periods of time. 2. The restaurant and the professional kitchen remain unchanged as well and will serve our guests in future before and after teachings. The kitchen will serve not only the restaurant but also visitors who prefer to sit outside on the spacious, open terrace in front of the building. 3. The bar will be used in future as well, but, of course, after all alcoholic drinks were removed. From now onwards the bar will exclusively serve our guests with juices, snacks, coffee and tea and lots of other healthy refreshments. It will be a place where our guests can enjoy their visit in a relaxed and comfortable athmosphere. 4. However, the large existing bowling-alley was converted into a splendid teaching hall, which is overlooking the beautiful garden. The teaching-hall can accomodate up to 100 persons at times of need. At the same time there is a big public community-hall which can be rented for very special events. This was already done during this summer when Shamar Rinpoche gave his first teachings for us in this area. There were so many visitors that it was appropriate to rent the community-hall, which can be easily reached on foot from the centre. Renchen-Ulm is not a big town, but we have discovered that there are many nice and clean private guesthouses (Bed & Breakfast) where visitors can stay overnight at very reasonable rates. This area is well-known for it’s outstanding service, good wine and food and it’s hospitality. Our Dharma- centre is happy to make the requested bookings, if requested, on behalf of those visitors who wish to make use of these facilities. After we moved into the new centre, we quickly found out that the area is nearly perfect for us. Only a few minutes away from the centre there is a wonderful park with lots of green trees, lawns and a fast flowing fresh-water-stream, where the residents and visitors can enjoy a peaceful and tranquil day.
