Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts
Shamar Rinpoche founded the Martha's Vineyard Bodhi Path Buddhist Center in 1999. The present location in West Tisbury is a few miles from the beach, in a quiet, wooded area. Our meditation hall provides a comfortable and beautiful space for group and individual Dharma activity. Our weekly schedule offers three meditation sessions. When our resident teacher Lama Yeshe is present she offers guided meditation instruction, Dharma teachings and one-day retreats. We also host other Bodhi Path Dharma teachers and Rinpoches throughout the year.Lama Yeshe Drolma has shared her warmth, wisdom and meditation experience with the Vineyard sangha for 14 years. After meeting H. H. Shamar Rinpoche in Germany in 1986, she has dedicated her life to Buddhist practice and study. From 1989 until 2000 Yeshe Drolma was in retreat, including the traditional 3-year retreat guided by Gendun Rinpoche. She was then invited to the United States to help develop the Bodhi Path Buddhist Center in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and she has been very successful in creating a bridge to meditation and the Buddha's teachings for many visitors to our center. Lama Yeshe has kindly extended her activity to include teaching at the Bodhi Path group in New York City. .
