Shenyen Ngawang Gelek

Shenyen Ngawang Gelek was born in Nepal in 1964 to a family of lineage leaders of Vajrayana Buddhism. At twelve, he moved to Katmandu to be educated in the classic ritual tradition of Buddhism at Tsechen Shedrub Ling Monastery. In 1981, he began advanced Buddhist studies at the Shri Karma Nalanda Institute at Rumtek in Sikkim. He graduated in 1990 with a master degree in Acharya degree. After graduation, Ngawang became a teacher at the Shri Karma Nalanda Institute as well as at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute in New Delhi.
